Their original name was Reel To Real. They were a cover band.
Scallions joined the band when Reel To Real had a show in Albany, and their lead singer couldn't make it. He had been playing solo shows at local bars.
Bell writes their songs.
Bell was not allowed to watch TV when he was younger. He credits this for his musical development, as he listened to albums instead.
All of the members had other jobs while they were playing in the band. Scallions worked in a lumberyard, Abercrombie was a welder, Miller a landscaper, and Bell managed a warehouse.
Miller popped out a rib while playing a show in Florida in 2001. He thought he was having a heart attack and was sure he was going to die.
The band asked Chris Daughtry to be their lead singer after hearing him perform their song "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" on American Idol. Daughtry turned them down so he could form his own group, and Fuel went with Troyn Green, formerly of the band Something To Burn, as their new lead singer. (thanks, Colton - Puyallup, WA)
I like Fuel a lot. My favorite song would probably have to be "Falls On Me" or "Hemorrhage." They're both great though. I heard about Brett Scallions leaving and the whole Chris Daughtry thing. Last I heard, Daughtry said "no." - Hope, Florence, MT
Miller was fired in mid 2005. Scallions left the band in 2006 to pursue other musical options. Ex Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart is rumored to be the new drummer and the band has contacted American Idol castoff Chris Daughtry about the lead singer role. - Alex, Bethlehem, PA
