Artistfacts:
Popper wanted to be a comedian. He was a big fan of John Belushi, and took up harmonica after watching him do it in The Blues Brothers.
Sheehan died of a drug overdose.
They are good friends with Paul Schaeffer and have made more appearances on Late Night With David Letterman than any other band.
Until 1995, they got very little airplay. Their first albums sold fairly well because they toured constantly and developed a fan base, especially at colleges.
In 1993, Popper was severely injured in a motorcycle accident.
Popper once weighed 400 pounds. He had his stomach stapled in 2001 and is now about 220.
Blues Traveler started the annual H.O.R.D.E. tour (Horizons Of Rock Developing Everywhere) in 1995.
The band's name comes from the movie Ghostbusters - referring to the ghost "Gozer The Traveler" faced by the Ghostbusters at the end of the movie. (thanks, Eric - Atlanta, GA)

I'll just say that I love Blues Traveler. Great harmonica solos and EXCELLENT bass. Gotta love the bass. Favorite songs are "Fallible" and "Hook."
- Chris LaBenne, Niles, OH
Blues Traveler appeared in the film *Blues Brothers 2000*. IIRC, it is not John Belushi but his Soul Brother Dan Ayckroyd who plays harmonica; John did only sing.
