Evan and Jaron are twin brothers. Evan is older by 5 minutes.
Evan first began learning guitar at age 17. His friend taught him his first song. It was "Lola" by the Kinks.
Spotted by Jimmy Buffet at a nightclub in Florida, he helped them get signed to Island Records.
Influences cited include: Simon and Garfunkel, Elvis Presley, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, James Taylor, Elton John, Jackson Browne, and Billy Joel.
Acted as their own manager, publicist, and booking agent. They would use names taken from the Chevy Chase movie, Fletch, as the names for these people.
The duo has worked with the likes of John Medeski, T-Bone Burnett, Dan Wilson, Jeff Baxter, Jim Keltner, Benmont Tench, and Mick Fleetwood.
