| They were one of the first bands to sign with The Beatles' label, Apple Records. |
| The group was known as The Iveys, but The Beatles renamed them "Badfinger" after their road manager, Neil Aspinall, came up with the name. He got the idea from John Lennon, who used to talk about his "Bad Finger Boogie." |
| After Apple Records folded, they signed with Warner Brothers. The group was doing very well when Warner Brothers discovered money missing from their accounts. They pulled their albums and sued the band, effectively ending their career. |
| Despondent over their business problems, Ham hanged himself in 1975. In 1983, Evans also hanged himself. |

| Badfinger may be the most underrated band ever, and did not revieve the respect they deserved. They have one of the most tragic stories in rock music. I was also under the impression that Badfinger got their name from the working title of The Beatles' With A Little Help From My Friends. After their string of minor hits in the early 70's, I read that members of the were so in debt that they were laying carpet, and plumbing. Truly sad. The band also lost 2 members of the band when Pete Ham hung himself in 1975 and Tom Evans did the same in 1983. Great music they had. Some of their best work: Baby Blue, Carry On Til Tommorow, and Without You. If you like The Beatles, give Badfinger a chance, they are a great band. - Jay, Columbia, MO |
