The group was formed by producers Phil Wilde and Jean-Paul DeCoster, formerly of AB Logic. They were looking to form a group to perform some of their songs.
Both Slijngaard and Doth were born in Amsterdam, Holland.
Rapper Slijngaard and singer Doth had both worked with rapper Marvin D., who introduced them to Wilde and DeCoster.
During their brief period of hitmaking, the group sold more than 18 million records worldwide.
Before 2 Unlimited, Slijngaard had been a chef and Doth was a meter maid.
The group fell apart as Slijngaard decided to manage his own X-Ray Records label. Doth went into TV and radio talk shows.
Since then, Doth has recorded with reggae DJ Mad Cobra.
