Artistfacts:
She was born the daughter of a minister and has roots in Gospel music.
Adams was singing in a Kansas City hotel when she was discovered by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears, who featured her voice prominently on their album The Seeds Of Love in 1989. In 1990, Orzabal paired with The Seeds Of Love producer David Bascombe and produced Oleta's debut album Circle Of One. This album featured a rendition of the Brenda Russell song "Get Here," which became an unofficial anthem of the Gulf War.
She is an accomplished pianist. (thanks, Paul - Detroit, MI, for all above)
